Brand new to the forum, hello hello hello everybody.

So I bought a cheap quad because that's what I could afford, and knew that my 6 year old boy isn't going to need all that much bike for his first. Basically, I'm just hoping it's not going to be too horrible and I won't have to replace for a couple years. So far so good.

This particular bike was the cheapest of the bunch for a couple reasons. First, the guy had sold it before and had to repo it after a week. Second, it's not the latest and greatest from that MFR. The name cracks me up. It's obvious they no speaky any eenglase. I will say though, that they spared no expense in getting the manual translated. It's the best written Chinese product in English manual I've ever seen.

So dad is kinda big, about 225 lbs., but I took it out for a test ride in my yard. 2nd lap I pick up a rock in the front sprocket housing. I heard a grinding and stopped immediately. I couldn't find the problem so slowly rode it 50' back to the sidewalk. I found and removed the rock. Partway back around my yard it throws the chain! Dammit! I was able to find the 2 pieces of the master link, but the keeper must not have been a keeper because I lost it forever. I'm not entirely positive, but it seems plausible to me that the rock being stuck where it was is what popped the keeper off. I'd like to believe it was that and not just poor quality anyways.

10 miles to the closest Yamahoppy shop and I'm headed home with my new part. I got it back together and all seems fine. So grandma hears we have a new toy and comes to test it out too. It worked great for her, but I noticed that one of the tail lights was already burnt out. So off to Schucks. Yeah right. You would think I could find the exact 5W bulb, but no. It has 2 raised contacts on the bottom of the plug instead of the usual single electrode and using the casing for the ground. Anyway I finally found one and it's not exactly right, but I made it work.

The bike starts right up every time, though sometimes the starter stops as if it's too weak, and I let off the button and push it again and it cranks right over. The little engine purrs along smoothly and seems well built. I was told it's a Yamaha engine, but I haven't looked close enough to confirm that myself.

Apparently, Chongqing China is a motorcycle building hub. Lots of Chinese bikes are made there. This particular company as near as I can tell, is called Chongqing Bashan Astronautical Motorcycle Company.

My thoughts are that this little guy is going to work just fine. I think all bikes break, so I fully expect to be repairing it. I just hope we get more fun time than shop time, that's all.

Oh, and it comes with keyless entry and an alarm system! How cool is that?

An additional note. I went to start it up today, and the battery just couldn't do it. After reading some comments on this board about how poor the Chinese batteries are, I decided to just buy a new one, and did. I'm going to buy a trickle charger too, as soon as the store gets their new shipment in.

I was told this bike has a charging magneto, so as long as it's getting some use, I think the new battery will be just fine.

My little 2 yr old can't keep of my friends' kid's 50, so I imagine in a few years I'll be buying one too!

 

On some of the Chinese ATV's with the remotes......the alarm/parental control system will leave the ignition on. If you start it with
the remote, you must turn it off with the remote or it will run it down overnight. Press the key that looks like an "unlocked" lock,
charge the battery and see if it holds overnight.

 

I can see how that would happen, since it's turning on the ignition without the key.

Good tip. I'll check that out.

So, I didn't get an owners manual for the alarm. I"m a little confused still.

I turn on the ignition by pressing the lightning button. (I presume.) I know that to start it, I push the lightning button twice.

How do I turn off the ignition? Is that the other lightning button press?

 

Also the alarm will slowly drain the battery no matter how you shut it off. If you are not going to use it for a week or so you sould disconnect the battery.

 

If you are trying to start it without the remote you might have to pull the brake in while you push the start button. If you started it with the remote, the key switch and kill switch on the handle bars will not work. You can push the unlock button on the remote to reset it. (this is on the machines we have, your's probably works the same way)
