Outgrew the 90 now what?

I purchased an LRX 90 (same as Kasea) 4 years ago for my son. Made the simple mods: removed carb restrictor, good tires, higher gearing and twist throttle. The unit has been surprizingly durable. Only repair has been bent rims. I would consider another purchase of an Asian quad. My budget is around $2000. My first thought was a used Blaster. He also rides (and outgrew) an XR100 so shifting is not new to him. I welcome the input from the massive brain trust of ATV Connection forum users to help with my decision. In your opinios, are there any Asian sport quads in the 200-300cc range that would be as reliable and fun as a Blaster for a 14 yr old 5'10" 150 lb boy? Thanks

Tmac8608,
I would strongly suggest staying with a Japanese Quad for your son. The blaster is a good choice. You may even want to look at a TRX250EX, Suzuki Z250,TRX300EX, Kymco Mongoose 250 or a Kymco Mongoose 300.
Obviously these quads cost a bit more, but if you are patient, you can find them used at good prices.
If your son rides aggressively he will surely break a Chinese quad in the first ride or if you are lucky, he will get a few rides out of it. If he is just a semi aggressive to a casual rider look at the Jetmoto 250.
We are going to put the Jetmoto 250 into our toy list for guests to ride.
Good Luck.

You shift it but unless they changed for 2007, there is no hand clutch.

The 300EX is far superior to the 250EX and it will hold up better and allow your son to be happier on it longer.
I have recently owned a Honda 250EX,300EX, 400EX, TRX450R, Recon 250, Rancher 350 2x4 and Rancher 4x4....The 250EX was ok, but didn't hold up as well as my other Hondas
My son rides a 400EX and he is the same age group as your boy.....
DRR has a new 250cc sport quad that could be a good choice, but since it is new I don't think there will be any used ones to fit into the budget of $2,000.

DRR is a top notch company and has proven it's quality and commitment in the mini market and is now taking on the big boys market!!

My son is 12yrs old 140lbs, 5'6". I just bought him a 03 blaster with nerf bars and race style tires and rims, DG pipe and pro circuit silencer on it, it looks great and runs great. I'd forgotten how much fun a blaster is. I weigh 220 and it has plenty of power for me. I got it on ebay for 1875. My son loves it.
