Default Need to fix problem tonight

Ok I have a 110cc Sunl. My son was ridding this bike and the engine just died. We tried to restart and the motor did nothing by pressing the start button. I then used the remote and it starts right up. I am guessing it's the switch assembly on the handlebars or the ignition swith where the key goes in. I just jumped the starter selinoid and it fired right up. Please help if you have any suggestions on how I can troubleshoot.

Do you have a multi meter or a test light?

I would check the fuse first. Start there and then use your light/meter to check for power at your key switch and then your start button. Also check that all the switches are in the on/run position. You should have 12 volt to the start switch and the key.

I would put my money on the fuse though.

Yeah I already checked both fuses. Then I went ahead and tried to check the wires on the ignition switch on the handle bars. I spliced the two wires to the button and tried wiring them together. My understanding is that the button acts as a bridge for these wires so I thought if I wired them together this should work if the button was broke. This didn't work so I am kinda lost at this point. What all could this be since the remote still works? I am thinking it could only be the switch assembly or the Key switch? I found the ignition switch assembly for about $25.00. I plan on purchasing that unless I am told it could be other parts?

The ignition switch is just a bridge on anything. You should be able to hot wire it. If you cant there is a problem with the wiring or source of power.

I dont think u wanna wire those straight together cause starter switch is temporary bridge its supposed to release when motor starts. It should have cranked continusley when both together. I might be reading wrong also so if I did sorry. r there any fuseable links in wires? And I dont know if theres 12 volts at switch on handlebars. power from switch should go to regulator first cause it takes more then 12 volts to turn motor. regulator boosts power output to starter and then it kicks bindex out and turns startor motor. Good test would be to find which wire comes out of switch with power to starter, then put power to wire and see if it kicks over. but disconnect from switch first so power wont back run the wires and overload switch
