50cc ATV......need some advice
#1
I've been looking at various 50cc ATV's over the last month or so and can't seem to get a clear picture of what I want for my kids. I figure this is the place to get some HONEST answers, about quality, reliability, service.
I haven't ruled out any maker as of yet although I've heard bad reviews about a few of them (Kazuma being one.............)
HELP A GUY OUT HERE..........right now Yamaha, Polaris & Kymco are the 3 I'm leaning towards. Even though I have a Suzuki KQ 700................
I'm OPEN to ANY suggestions..........................

My son has a 2006 Suzuki LTZ50, nice looking quad -looks like a big one shrunk down. Have never had any mechanical problems or failures, but it's a real dog from factory. If you are considering one of these, you might as well figure in an extra $200.00 for a aftermarket CDI once your child develops basic riding skills.
A neighbor had just got a used Predator 50 for his son on Christmas, and I don't know if it was modified by the previous owner, but it has alot more zip than the Suzuki.

We have an '03 LT50a (2-stroke). I removed the intake/exhaust restrictors, modded the air box, jetted the carb up, lightened the clutch weights and milled the head. Runs on 87 octane and will pull my 235lbs around the yard easily. Our son can climb some pretty steep hills for a 50 now. Speed is still limited to about 12mph, but it gets up to 12mph about twice as fast as it did stock.

Not sure about the Kymco but the Polaris 2006 predator 50 is large and fast for my son but has several things that are a pain! air box opening, several, several problems with the dam thing but the 50 kazuma that he learned on with two cracked rims (due to abuse) bald tires (due to abuse) has needed nothing! so cheaper is better in my opinion. Also hands down the Polaris outlaw 90 best by far!

My son has a Kazuma 50 that has been a very good quad, he has not taken it easy on the thing either. Look at my pictures to see what he has done with it, there are only a few pictures.

I have more pics. I don't know if they are as impressive, but I will try to get more posted. He has also be on a few trails with it. He loves the mud pit and donuts in the snow the most.
