1985 Suzuki LT 50 Quad
I am putting this quad back together and need to know where the port on the intake side of the cylinder goes to. It is a hose port which would be vacuum but it wasn't there when I got it and I don't know what it connects to. It is between the carb and the cylinder and is actually on the engine and not on the small intake tube. This is a 2 stroke engine. I am a newbie here and I need help. I got this ATV for my grandkids and just put a new carb on it. Any help would be appreciated and if you want you can post here or e-mail me.

Well, that does make some sense since I have two hose connections at the petcock but only have the one hooked up going to the carb. I could not think of the reason why a vacuum hose would go to the petcock. Now I am sure that is right but still don't understand it. Any ideas what it does? Thanks.

Well I just read another post and see where it is a primer for cold starting that sends some gas directly into the cylinder. Is this correct? With the new carb and the port on the intake plugged off it still started on the first pull after sitting overnight with only the choke lever on. I can't beat that!

prime runs gas to the carb(not the cylinder)weather or not the motor is running. if on(on or reserve) it takes the pulse off the carb to open the valve to let gas run through. so if you turn off the quad and the valve is on (on). gas should not run. I had problems and leave it on prime and bought a gas shut off for a lawnmower. (that petcock is $60.00.) so when I shut down the quad I shut the valve off hope it helps
