Seems that the GY6 auto chokes have issues. You may be having the reverse problem as noted on this site.

Just purchased a taotao 250E and the suspension and ride are stiff and unenjoyable. Is there any thing I can do that won't cost an arm & leg to make the atv a pleasure to ride or is it the design of the atv it self. Thanks

 

I just bought a TaoTao Rhino 250 (11/03/2015). After putting gas in it and setting the kill switch to the run position, It started- ONCE !!!- It wont start now. Fuel switch is in the on position, in neutral, brakes depressed, key on, clutch level squeezed, throttle engaged. It turns over fine just- NO GO. I will never buy another one of these pieces of Chinese junk. What should I do?

 

Take the plug out, re-fit the lead, lay it on the head and spin the engine over to see if it sparks. Try a new plug if it doesn't. If you still have no spark check all wiring connectors for a loose wire. If it is sparking, check compression, if that is good, clean the carb out, some debris from assembly may have got in there.

 

I took someone's advise to drain the carb bowl as they some times have an air lock- fired right up!
