It looked fairly rough... I think I will go back tomorrow and ask him to run it... Anything obvious I should be looking for as a warning sign or am I pretty good because it seems like there are parts available and after-market addons as well..

Ummmmmm...

Look in the motor case in the front sprocket area for cracks (usually 1 big one).
Look at the frame tubes by the air box. They can break there.
Look under the machine where the 3 frame rails come together. They can break there.
The frame breakage is rare. The motor case is common.
Chances are it'll be in fair to good condition and even if you have to spend a cpl hundred on it to bring it up to par, it'll last more than your money's worth..
The polaris is a good machine also.
2 strokes are so easy to work on.
Course, I'm presuming your 7 yr old isn't big enough for the breeze.

Those are a pretty generic Quad..Id guess a dozen or more importers bringing somethuing like that here.. They all look very similar because they all copied the same original design..
They are a decent quad overall but will need a bunch of your time loctiting all the bolts that hold on the plastic and everything else or it will fall apart slowly..
While I do think this woould be a good quad for him to learn on, and you to learn some wrenching skills.. but I dont think its gonna last him 5 years.. maybe 3...
One thing to consider if your not going to keep every off road machine you get. (like me for instance) Chinese resale value sucks... you could literally make money on the LT80 if you bought it...you will lose money on the Chinese ATV..
