Hi All

I have purchased a lt 80 (I think 2005) which has never worked properly. It is now not working at all and my dad who is mechanically minded is very frustrated.

The starter motor has been replaced but the splines on the commutator and gear have worn within weeks so that it is not engaging. This is the second starter motor with the same problem. Is this a common fault?

The fuel doesn't appear to get into the engine as the spark plug is dry when checked. The fuel is getting into the carb and the float is fine and the jets are clean. Any suggestion?

Previously it was running but died after 15 minutes and would not re-start so was guessing the coil may be at fault.

Any comments / suggestions would be gratefully received.

 

The starter issue is strange. Deff not common.
Fuel: try hand choking it (2 fingers in front of carb.
I'd do a compression test. That may explain alot.
