90cc Mikuni Carb Problem 2 stroke
#1
Ok, I have an xtreme 90cc quad, probablly mid 90's model. It looks real similiar to a couple etons (I think, may have been Kasea) in the past. Just picked it up from a yard sale so have no history except they couldnt keep it running. It had gas coming out the float over flow, it would start first kick then die. I yanked the carb, gutted it, cleaned it all out. It say Mikuni Corp on the side, looks just like one from a Polaris predator, not any adjustments and some electronic solenoid mounted vertical on it. After i reinstalled with a slight float adjustment, it started then died. I couldnt get it started again. Added some WD-40 and it lit right off. So took the carb off again for another clean. Double checked all the jets, the needle, carb cleaner and compressed air on everthing. It all looked good, it all actually looked good when i took it apart the first time. Put it all back together and same situation. After looking further, no fuel was in the bore of the carburetor. Iv worked on numerous larger carb from mikuni, and I am used to seeing the fuel squirt out when you turn the throttle. On hunch I tried to adjust the float levels up, thinking maybe there is some sort of vacuum that pulls the fuel up once the motor gets running. No help, so I pulled it off a couple more time until i had the floats set so high, the fuel was running out the carb. Once i did this it started right up and had great throttle response. So I adjust the float down, just until it didnt overflow. I know i had it still set too high, bc if you shake the quad, it would run out, but I was just trying to get it running to check out everything else. So i jump on it to run down the street and once you give it gas it revs up, rolls about a foot and then starts to die. Even if i get off the bike and just walkd besides it, the same thing happens. So my question is whats wrong? Also there is no battery in the bike, i just have the wires unhooked, but I didnt think this would be any sort of problem. The bike still has the oil injection hooked up, which I want to eliminate, and there is also on other vacuum line hooked to the carb, right above the slide. I didnt think this would do anything really, considering it goes in the carb above the top of the needle. Anyways there is no adjustments, i can change the jets, but it should be stock and nothing else is done to the bike. THanks for advice in advance...

The elec chokes (solonoid thing) have been a big problem.
I think I'd check the compression. We'll prolly need to know that to help.

I don't have the equipment to test the compression. How do you think the compression has anything to do with it. The bike has plenty of power for the split second, before it seems to run out of gas. If it was low on compression, it wouldnt bog down, just have no power.
Update, I pulled the reeds to see if they were cracked, but all looked well and they were metal anyways. Cleaned and reinstalled. When I went to put the rubber intake back on I noticed a hair line crack. The crack went all the way through, but then it was on the bike and the carb off, I still couldnt see it. Im hoping once the carb was bolted on, there was enough weight, that the crack opened up significantly. I hope to play with it some more tonight.
Any other ideas?
