ya..13/26 fits perfect which means others don't LOL.
What your going to need is a chain roller.
Place the roller under or over the chain and pull it tight. Put the bolt thru and mark where it hits the matel plate. Drill and mount the roller.

Ah - LT80- that explains it thanks!

Am I correct in thinking that if I go from a 12 to a 13 tooth front, I'll get a bit slower takeoff but a bit higher top speed?

Cheers from New Zealand:-)

Steve.

Correct.
Read up on lightening the rear shoes. That and roller weight and you will compensate for the taller gearing.

Thanks LT80. I have already serviced the clutches and now have 4 rollers. I haven't done the 180gm mod as my daughters are both new to this so don't want to scare them too early!

I'll add the roller and perhaps go to a 13 tooth as another option. I can live with slower take off if I go 13 tooth.

Many thanks.

Cheers,

Steve.

Steve, FYI: I consider the stock LT80 jerky on take off. The rear clutch mod seems to smooth it out.
It's not a wild speed mod.
Have fun.

I would most definetely put the tensioner on the bottom, because the tension is already in the top from the motor pulling, and it would put un-needed force on your tensioner and wear it out in a hurry, where as the bottom its not near as much force

Quick question. Will the stock chain cover still fit if one decided to convert to 13/26 428 sprockets and a 428 or #40 chain?
