Scrambler 50 Carb help needed
#1
My sons Scrambler 50 has been hard to start the last few months. It does not get started for weeks at a time. I finally got fed up with it and pulled the carb. It had green flakes of stuff in the bowl. I blew out every hole and put it back together. It runs but only while I am choking it by hand. As soon as I take away my hand it dies out. The only adjustment screw I see is idle mixture, and I for the life of me cant figure out where it should be at.
a Rundown on the quad. I bought it last fall. It has an AAEN speed kit of some kind on it. The gas is pre-mixed now, has a cone filter, no kick start, pipe, clutch kit etc. Can someone explane to me how to adjust the carb? At the moment it is dripping gas out the overflow vent. So does that mean the float is stuck now?
Thanks,
Ryan

just an update. I took the carb back off again. I pulled the Reed cage and looked at it. Looks fine however I have no idea what it is and isn't supposed to look like. Put it all back together again. Still has issues running. If I place half my hand over the carb to choke it. It runs GREAT... What is going on? Is my elect. choke screwed up? Without my hand on the carb it boggs down when I give it gas.... This is driving me crazy

You should back your jets out and run some carb cleaner through it. If it is just dumping gas out of itself sounds like it needs a new needle & seat. You can also buy a new pilot jet for it for less than 5 bucks rather than trying to clean it. Also I have heard those electric chokes can be a real pain in the neck & can be replaced with a manual choke!
