Default LT80 versus water?

My two sons and I were driving into about a foot of water when the LT80 lost the drive to the wheels. It would just rev up with no forward motion. I put the rear up off the ground and got the rear wheels rolling with the throttle up. After about five minutes of fooling around we were able to get it driving well enough to try and get back to our truck. By the time we got back it was working normal again (about two miles). Is this normal for this quad, or is something not sealed?

I'd consider this normal.
They are sealed but not that tight.
I think it'll be fine.

So is it possible to make it better? Certain trails we need to cross water and my sons arctic cat 50 will make it every time.
Do you know what width the belt should be? Trying to figure out if the belt is worn and should be replaced as a side note.
