90cc for 11 year old?
Hi Guys,
My son is about to turn 11 and is 5'2 110 pounds and I am looking at purchasing a nice Kasea 90 slight modded (carb, clutch, head) quad for him but wondering if I should go bigger like a 300ex? He is a casual rider and only rides with me so he does not get to aggressive. He does not know how to shift yet as his previous bike was an LT 80. Price wise is about a wash for the Kasea and.or 300ex.
As people on this forum say "It is not the size of the bike but the machurity of the rider" and on that note, I would say I am not that convinced he can handle the 300 or 250ex and I want him to enjoy riding and feel he is bigger than the bike.
But I would sincerely appreciate any advice from fathers and mothers alike on what they did with there son. We ride mostly dunes.
Thank you

If it were me I would go with the Honda , mainly because he will grow into it very fast , they are more reliable parts are plentiful .my son started riding at age 8 on a kazuma 110 and soon got board with the lack of power heaved up to a new raptor 250 at age 11 and has been upgrading it since . He is 15 now and still enjoys his raptor, and loves his yfz450

go with the honda. govern the quad down with the cable adjustment. look to see if there is also a screw governor at the thumb throttle that'll limit it also. don't pinch it down too far as the quad may need the RPMs so as to not burn up the centrifugal clutch when climbing small hills or plowing through rough terrain or sugar sand.
he needs to handle the machine, but you need to fit him to a machine. at 5'2", i think he's a little too big for a 90cc. that'd be top heavy. a 250cc would do the trick. my daughter is 22 and 5'2" and handles our 250ex just fine.
