ltz50 no spark
#1
Can someone please post the specs for the electrical system, coil, stator, etc. so I can diagnose why the z50 lost spark. I checked the kill switches and parking brake which none of them allow the quad to crank unless set so they all should be fine as its cranking no problem. It does have a dynatek cdi currently.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Primary side of coil resistance is .01-.07, I'm measuring zero. But secondary side to plug cap is to be 14-20kohms and I'm measuring 17kohms
Does that seem like the coil is bad?

I'm assuming you are referring to the plug coil, yes, zero on the primary is wrong but I have never had an ohm-meter good enough to trust to .01 of an ohm. If you are getting a decent AC pulse voltage from the CDI to the coil when the engine is turned over, but no spark at the plug, your coil is faulty.

Well I got spark. I'm honestly not too sure what is making it have spark now. I messed with the coil on and off and unplugged a few things checking everything.
I think the coil is still acting up however, number one is the spark will come right through the outside of the plug cap if its close to the engine. Its tight to the wire so i'm thinking the cap itself might be going bad.
I cleaned the carb out and air filter but it won't stay running. It will start but stall after a struggling few seconds of running.

I think the cap may be arcing. I'd get a new one anyways.
I used to replace them with a arctic cat plug cap from NGK.

I could be wrong but suspect the LTZ may be DC ignition, I'm fairly sure the TRX90 is AC so coils will be incompatible. Get a new plug cap like LT80 suggested, if the spark is strong enough to get past the cap's insulation, it is good enough to fire the plug.
