Not sure what you are referring to, "ignition module" sounds more like the CDI than the trigger coil. If the trigger coil (15 on your picture) is shot, a new CDI is not going to fix the problem.

Sorry, ignition module is what they call that trigger coil and that’s the part I’d be getting.

Figured I'd follow up on this. While the part is listed on scootr's website, they don't actually have any. It doesn't appear the trigger coil is made any more. Neither is the stator or CDI.

They do have a kit they made up (what I was told anyway) that lets you bolt up the ignition coil that the pull start only versions use along with a new fly wheel and cover. Its about $250 and it does away with the stator, trigger coil and CDI. Downside, beside the cost for a 40cc quad, is that it won't charge the battery any longer when running.

Buddy doesn't want to put the money into it since he only spent $100 to get the quad and its a 40cc that his kids will outgrow quickly. It was a nice running quad when it ran though.

Check what the trigger coil on a 90cc 2 stroke looks like. I'm not sure if they are the same family, but if it would fit with a little modification, it may do the job. Another alternative is a re-winder. There are specialists who rewind the stator coils, so I don't see any reason why they can't rewind a trigger coil.

I've checked a few and they are all different for the 50cc and bigger. Although if they pick up off the flywheel the same I could probably rig up a bracket to work with mounts that are on there now. I can check to see if there is anyone around here that can rewind a stator and ask about the trigger coil.
