2006 LT80 Clutch/ Belt issue ?
#1
I have a 2006 LT80 that is giving me a little issue. When the bike fires up it runs great and when you get to the point in the RPM range when the clutch engages the quad makes a sound out of the rear clutch area. Like the clutches are not fully engaging. I removed the cover and the belt ran the quad and there was no noises coming from the engine side. When I run the quad on blocks with no weight it still does it just not as bad. Could an old belt make he clutches not fully engage ? is there something I can replace on the clutch pack? I am trying to find the best word to describe the noise...... It is almost like rattle/grind. I have attached a video of the quad running and making the noise. When I removed the rear clutch and basket it appears to be fine. The rear tire spins freely and doesn't make any noise when the rear clutch basket is removed. Let me know if there is any questions you might have that I didn't cover.
Thanks in advance for the help.

Cannot see the video.
Anyways, the rear clutch bearings are known for going bad.
Some times the chain and sprockets are so wore it makes a bad sound. I've found that the chain is long forgot about with the chain cover on there.

Thanks! I will look at the chain and sprocket, however I don't have the cover on my and did replace the front sprocket and chain although that was some time ago. Can you tell the bearing is bad while spinning it when its not mounted to that drive spindle? When i spin it on my finger it doesn't make any noise nor do I feel any grinding...... I wish you could see the video I bet you would know what it is then. It is almost like the clutch is not fully engaging and it s skipping. Thanks again for the help

Yes, that's how you check the bearings. Stick a finger in and turn.
A wore belt is usually best, and I can't see it being a problem.
While off, get in the front clutch and make sure all is good in there.
