Default carb and starter contacting on lt80

I installed this carb and this starter and all seemed good with the combination. As my son has been riding, we started to notice a rattling sound, especially when the foot brake is pressed. It from what I can see, its the carb and the starter contacting and vibrating creating the rattling sound. I have loosened the starter bolts tried to adjust and move the starter around, the same with the carb, but nothing seems to allow for any clearance between the two parts. I am thinking of adding thicker washers to the already difficult to loosen carb bolts/screws to provide some clearance between the two parts. I wanted to hit up the forum to see if there is anything else I might be missing? Better solution? Anywhere else to adjust the clearance gap??

Thanks

Jack knows these engines much better than me, but I don't see how the carb could hit the starter. There is, or should be, a black plastic spacer/insulation block between reed valve block and carb, have you left it off?

I know the exact part you are referring to. Nope, I have that installed. I looked at it again and it might be that the starter design on the new one is slightly different than the oem. I would have to switch back the starter to see if there is more clearance or not too be sure. But I am really dreading that. Removing the starter is a pain.

They sure are a pain!
The starter goes in a exact fitting hole. I know of no way to adjust how it fits.
The china starters do look different but has always fit.
