Default Can-Am ds90x belt problems

I have posted this in another thread as well but i figured this might be a better place for it. I recently gave my little brother my ds90x because i have moved on to a kfx450f. So the belt literally will destroy itself for no reason at all, he will be riding then boom no belt. The belt dosent just snap into a single piece it will be in chunks every time and its starting to get a little pricey being that its 70$ a belt. Thanks ahead of time!

All CVT belts explode when they let go, one wonders how all those thin aluminium parts haven't been broken or bent, when you open the belt cover. However, if it is going through belts fast, there must be something wrong with the pulleys. I don't know the Can Am 90 at all but most CVT pulley systems use a similar set up, front pulley can be split and cleaned, rollers cleaned and checked for flats, etc. Check the sheave slides easily, without sticking. Rear pulleys, I tend to clean up as a unit as they have that big spring behind the back sheave. If it has a separate centrifugal clutch, this too may need cleaning if it is in the belt box. Check the air intake and exit is clear, I have found bits of old belt a long way down the exit tube on some variators.
