Has any of you cannibal riders out there raced a raptor out there?

How has it done in a drag?

Also how was it on the track?

Probably the can would beat the rap because it is more set up for the track with the wider track and better shocks.

I read that someoone on an FX400 and Raptor were racing in the dunes, and the FX pulled ahead of it with knobbies and the Raptor was running paddles. According to Dumbwheel *cough*cough I mean Dirtwheels, the FX and Raptor were "paralell" so to speak, on a MX track. I bet that the Cannibal's are better with the updates.

My brother and I both got beat up Sand Mtn at LS Utah. It was a bone stock FX. We were piped, me full BG or full Graydon can't remember, Bro full DMC. We all had 20' 8 paddle tires on. Very impressive. I was running 13-42, my bro 12-40. What is the stock gearing of a FX400? We lost no excuses. They are very fast. Would like to see one on a track and a DS.

Hello,
I don't really want to knock on the cans, because what they are doing with the sport is great for all of us, but lets not compare apples with oranges. The cans are Prepped from the factory to have more power, they want an out out of the box racer. Yamaha on the other hand has went out of their way to de tune the raptor. Look at the Cans compression ratio compared to the paltry stock raptor, and then at the raptors sick air intake. If you change just the piston, and remove the airbox lid, then the Raptors are on par with any stock Can and you still have'nt reached the base price of a decent Can. Now from my experiences, I have only seen a few Cans actually finish races. I remember at the Wayne County national TT race last year seeing like 4 out of six blowing up on saturday(though they did get good starts, a few holeshots if I remember). And now that I have a complete race pakage, 61 HP on stock bore,I seriously doubt that any cans will come close and I'm still around the 12,500$mark for the moto. Lets face it, with what cannondales started with, you can only squeeze a few more horses out(look at the MX bike for example, if the could have been as fast as the YZ they would have been, but they weren't even close and the YZ only puts out around 53 to 55 HP fully modded, let alone the stock 47 or so). Basically, if you want to compare apples to apples, lets race some modded machines and everyone will see that for all out speed, there is no substitute fo cubic inches(five valves doesnt hurt either See ya at the track

I see what you are saying Raptor18 but, I think some people are confused about modified machines and stock machines. Whats the definition of modded? Whats the definition of stock? I see the C-Dales as stock machines (as long as the owner hasn't added anything). I also see the Raptors as stock machines (same as above). In other words who says a quad or anything for that matter has to be de-tuned from the factory to be considerd stock. Who says that if a company gets all the performance it can out of something than its a modified product. I know that you didnt realy say its already a modified engine, but some people have, and its seems you are thinking the same way. Apples to oranges? You are right about that. But I see it as 440 to 660.

Read Sandgod's post. If you still consider that apples to oranges than it should be because the raptor had a lot more on it than the FX 400.(I didn't wanna say modded because then people would say, "what does modded really mean.&quot Thats just a bull **** excuse. Don't use the fact that the dale was built better as an excuse to say, "Its already modded right out of the box so you can't compare it to a Raptor." I know that mine is fuel injected so I'm not gonna try to say anything about the 660, 440 difference because that almost as different as a four stroke and two stroke. Just face the facts, the Raptor isn't as fast, no excuses.

I will ad this to my above statement. My observation and experience to climb Sand Mtn requires more rpm then torque. The FX revs really high which is an advantage on this monster hill. In order to motor up this hill the quad must rev and that is one thing the Raptor doesn't do as well as the FX. The dude we raced was a buck twenty soakin wet. Not making excuses. My Raptor was faster on hardpacked, but I am a realist and top speed means very little on a track. I might get one for my style of riding. I am not brand loyal on quads or aftermarket parts. I hope the Suzy has the same power or close as a Raptor w/ the handleing of a 400ex or 250r. It's a great time to be in this sport. I just wish I was ten years younger. I like somebodys sig that says "Prove it, take it on a track "

Raptor 18, I totally disagree with you. The cannondale is just a better machine. No ifs ands or buts about it. There is no excuse why you Raptor isn't as good as a Cannondale. Cannibal modded out of the box? What the h*ll are you talking about? A Cannibal is a stock Cannondale actually toned down by Cannondale to be cheaper (steel rims ring a bell?). No replacement for displacement??? LOL! that would explain why a 250 2 stroke can take a 4 stroke 660...

You remind me of some kind of heavily modified honda civic driving yuppie making up excuses of why he was beat by a stock Camaro...
