Now that i'm a proud owner of a Speed. Does anybody know how many of each of the types of bikes where made? How many of them have been sold? How many people are on this forum that own them.

We look pretty small as compared to the Bombs and the rest.

Started to polish the front bumper last night. Bought a 7" Grinder/Polisher to finish it and than start on the frame. The problem with polishing is once you start, you look and think that part would look good also, so on adn so on. Anybody had their frame anodized yet?

you know, i bet if you called up Cannondale and payed a little extra, they would build you a quad factory direct with an anodized frame. The frames are hand made and all, the assembly line is not automated, and the production numbers are not huge... I bet that they would do it. Probably cost an extra $500, though.

That couldn't be done because it is against the law to sell a quad from the factory, your dealer would have to put in the order, then he would want some outrageous price for it. The best thing to do would be to have your frame anodized when you pull the motor to adjust the valves. That way almost half the quad is tore apart and it's during your down time anyway. I wonder how much it would cost to do.

Well, I have contact for anodizing so that may come into play. I don't ride in the summer 95+ degrees. I will probably pull the motor spend alot of time polishing and than send it to be anodized. Now what color, I'm not trilled about the metal flake silver and yellow is out. That leaves RED, BLUE, GREEN, and BLACK. I've got lots of time. My 4" electric grinder and a scotch brite wheel are cleaning the frame up nicely, it's knocking the rouch castings off from where the rear master cylinder is into a nice satin smooth finish, follow with 1000 grit and than polish.

Black frame/ Red swingarm. That would look good with the plastics, or since the A-Arms are black, frame red then swingarm black.

Not to be a wet blanket here guys, but remember the look of those gold anodized Banshee wheels after a few trips through the rocks? Those scratches were awful and a lot of people spent tons of time "de-anodizing" the wheels for a polished look. Dont get me wrong, the color would sure look sweet but those first scratches from your boot buckel or a rock would bum me out. Seems a shame to turn a maintenance free item into a maintenance intensive item. Kinda like painting a brick house. Looks good initially, but you will be painting every 6 years or so. The polish is what I would do...... Just my .02.

Well, there would be some things to consider, besides cost and colors...
-what type of protective coating does Cannondale paint the frames with (to prevent oxidation)?
-darker coatings will have an affect on the cooling of the engine oil (which is kept in the frame)
-show quad or racer (a thicker chem-plating will be required if any durability is desired, which can substantially increase price and weight added to the machine)

it might be something cool to think about, but anodizing the frame doesn't really seem worth it if you think about it...
