Both my quads and friends quads are hard to find neutral with engine running. (Manual and Hydrulic Clutch) Anyone have a fix for this?

You probably need to adjust the clutch actuating arm as detailed in the manual. This made a big difference for me. I also went to full synthetic gear oil and have fewer missed shifts and neutral is easier to get. I think it will get easier the more hours you put on her.

Instead of using heavy clutch springs, Cannondale used a 10 plate clutch. The drawback to this is additional friction between the plates.

After you verify the clutch adjustment, try a lighter weight transmission oil and see how it reacts.

Mine seems to find nuetral a lot easier if I rev the engine a little. Ofcourse, just shutting it off or hitting neutral while your still rolling seems to be the easiest ways to find it. I don't mind not being able to find neutral easy... it makes it easy to miss during a race. I find myself hitting nuetral a lot on other peoples quads.

I think mines a little out of adjustment, it wants to roll forward a little if I start it in gear. It is almost impossible to find neutral when it is running.

Same here, I put mine up on jack and pull clutch in then shift into a gear (this is while running) and with the clutch still held in tightly she starts spinning at a good pace. My dealer says no does not need adjustment, just the way the clutch plates are. Neutral with machine running is pretty much a losing deal. By hand, by foot, rolling, not rolling, reving, cussing, none of that works. Rather embarrasing sometimes. I just tell em, nope don't need neutral on these babies, they made to go, go go.

I switched tranny oil to Redline full synthetic 75-90 last weekend while doing the oil change and i can now find nuetral with the engine running. It's still not as easy as other bikes, but it's not impossible anymore.

Dirthawg;

Give it some more time and the clutch will get better. Also it sounds like your quad is relatively new. Make sure you have changed your fluids after the 2 hour break in. Don't be alarmed at what you find in the tranny filter. This is normal to have metal shavings in it for the first three changes.

Mine is broken in and it is still a pain to find nuetral. I have gotten to used to starting in gear.
