MrP, If no one cared about my CRF, then they wouldn't be asking me about it.

You have some issues you need to work out with yourself. I never said anything to you. Instead you just felt like you can type what you want and forget about it.

I noticed that you are a racer from the south. How long have you been racing? If you have have had as much experience as I, you may respond, and if not keep your hands in your lap.

If you do have many years under your belt, who are you so that I can find you in some old pics so that I may have a laugh before nighty night.

Why is it that you feel the need to refute anything I say?? Grow up.
You don't even own a Cannondale!!!!

I heard you can buy a crf motor in a crate but you just get the motor and you have to buy everything else like the carb, clutch, etc.

btw I would love to see a layout of the costs to build a crf450 quad for under 10k. If you can do that it is very impressive.

Unless Honda's policy has changed in the last week you can't. Jeff just started his project a couple weeks ago and up to that point you still had to buy the entire dirt bike.

Carl, amuse us. Why don't you lay out your plans for your $10,000 CRF powered quad right here for all of us to see that way you don't get flooded with tons of PM's. I'd love to see the tally sheet on how you're going to get this quad built for that little money.

GuyRaptor, The CRf engine is available for $4500 from ServiceHonda.

I have had an ongoing business relationship with them that has spanned for over 4 years and have already gotten a quote for $3500...my cost.

I am getting 4 engines in December and 2 in january. i ma going to be selling them at my own business.

Soooooooooooooooo There goes your overpriced theory.

Thank You very much.

I will not post anything else here due to all the kids.

To all else interested, I will send the plans in the morning.

Captain- shut the hell up your posts are not even funny anymore, they are just immature and annoying to read. Obviously no1 likes you at all. You come in here bashing machines when a someone just trys to ask a few simple questions about them. Why do you insist to be such a jacka$$?

Buwahaha!! "Ongoing business relationship" that allows you to get CRF engines for $3500!! News flash, check servicehonda's website, anyone can get that price if they buy before Oct. 25!

Ok, so you can get the engine for $3500. You're still looking at a bare frame with an engine (that's missing a carb and CDI) in it that only has a-arms, spindles and front shocks on it and your total is already at $8000. You've still got to buy a rear shock, a complete swingarm/axle/bearing carrier setup and that's in addition to a steering stem, radiator, handlebars, controls, cables, hoses, tires and rims, plastic, seat, and a whole bunch more. Folks, the reason Carl isn't showing us his list of parts and prices isn't because of some "kids" that are watching this board but because he knows as well as we do that it can't be done for $10,000. I wish we had a mod that could just lock this nonsense.

Captain JackAss!!!! How are ya!? Still breathing I see....too bad. I'll be glad to explain the whole consept of the Cannondale to you. Turn off the TV, put in some ear plugs, sit down, and read! This might be hard for you to get, because it's alittle more complicated than your old 300ex. The new stuff is BETTER! Just because it has more bells and whistles....that you can't comprehend....doesn't mean it's not better!

<< One of my boys has been interested in going to the Cannondales for a while now and I have refused to give in so far because of their reliability and obvious overpricing. It may have fuel injection, but isn't anything that is needed and is the cause for most of their problems. >>

Cause for most of our problems? Not needed? If you rode one, and found out just how much snappier this thing is, you'd $hit your overalls. The throttle response is unbelieveable. And believe me, the minor problems have NOTHING to do with the fuel injection. It's more of the ECU itself. Obvious overpricing!???! lol! The day you build a better, cheaper quad than a Moto, is the day you've finally become perfect. Not a chance....

<<
I am most likely building a CRF450 quad for my son and I have already gone over many different configurations and can build one MX ready for under $10,000, so forget the Cannondale. My project includes a new chassis and new engine.

<< Recently I have been in the market for a new quad. Since I sold the old 250r, very sad day.

I am looking into a Cannondale, Gas Gas, or some sort of crf450/yzf426 job. Cannondale has recently peaked my interest, with the way most people talk about them, on this sight.

The major question I have is why do the Blaze and Moto have the most HP? I thought they were all the same engine. I am hoping to get the Cannible or Speed, because I would like to add all of the goodies myself. Why do the two top end quads have the most power, and if I get one of the lower models what can I do to make it on par.

I am in Canada so Im buying against the american dollar, so any inital advantage in price would help. But I want the programable engine mapping. Then later change out the suspension and front end. Followed by the extensive motor work. Anyone out there with experience, and who sort of knows where im coming from could you PLEASE HELP ME!!!
thanks

Hulk,
sorry for the rude guy in here known as The Captain.....he's a jacka$$.
The horsepower difference is in the exhaust and fuel/ignition mapping. You can add an aftermarket exhaust (or buy the Moto exhaust for $300) and have the Blaze or Moto mapping added to your quad. If your looking at racing or fast trail riding, i'd get a Speed, add nerfs, the pingle tether switch, The HMF full exhaust system, and have Ohlins revalve the shocks. For a total price, you should be around $9000 american. A Speed setup this way vs a Blaze. Your minus the handguards, steering stablizer, rezzs on the shocks, rear beadlocks, and the Fatty Tag T2 bars. So for the extra $1000, your getting alot more add-ons....
