You gotta break it in at first. Don't run it over half throttle for a while and after the 1st hour of use, change the oil. I can't remember the proper break in, but your manual should mention it and I'm sure some others on here could answer your questions better. But don't just hop on it and punch it, hammering through gears. If you don't break it in first, you'll be one of the ones that fry their motors. Take it VERY easy on the motor for the first few hours of ride time.

check with your dealer to see if he broke it in for you, some do. they have special break in oil in them at first. if he hasnt then do this.

1. do not run harder than half throttle
2. ride it for 15 minutes
3. let it set till the motor is cool, touch the motor side case and your rear rim. the motor should be as cool as the rim.
3. ride another 15 minutes
4. repeat step 3
5. ride for 15 minutes
6. repeat step 3
now drain all engine and tranny oil, if you have a paper filter replace it, if you have the metal one clean it. clean the metal tranny filter. install filters back, fill engine and tranny with new oil. start it and run it for a while and check oil levels again. you are now ready to rip. heres a little tip,buy you about 12 inchesof clear 1/4 inch tubing and 5/16 inch tubing. install the tubing over the drain nipples on the frame. a good wire tie will hold them on. now you can put a drain pan under your quad and dain all th oil from all of the outlets at one time
