Thanks for the reply man... I really do appreciate it. Let's see if you can answer one more then. What are the plans for SE MI right now in regards to creating more ORV Trails and when can we realistically expect this to happen?

I have a quick answer to that question.

Not in my lifetime.

A SE Michigan riding area was part of the original 1994 plan, but it still hasn't happened. I've not heard the DNR talk about this, only User groups who are interested in seeing it happen.
The ORV Plan Update also includes the new riding area as one of it's suggestions, but again, that's as far as I've seen it go.

So, although I'll be less blunt than Bill, there aren't any public plans from the DNR and no time frame has been established.

Please watch for information soon to come, on the final ORV Draft Plan, that could come out as early as Febuary, then for final action by the Natural Resources Commission shortly thereafter. There will be opportunity for the public to speak on this matter at the NRC meetings, of which I understand, there will be a first and second reading. This plan will more than likely be in place at least for the next two decades. There are several very positive things included in the plan, but some have red flags immediately, we all need to pay close attention here.

Busy Rider hasn't been able to respond to posts on this forum for several weeks. His computer crashes when he hits the reply button.
If you want to hear directly from him, I suggest emailing him: dranney1@charter.net

Last news on the ORV Plan Update was that the DNR was still "reviewing" the Update. The latest delay being related to legislation requiring new trail and forest certification issues. I think both items are listed in the ORV Advisory Board meeting minutes.

Just a quick update on Oscoda county, dont expect anything to change as far as county roads opening up this year. Expect ZERO changes in this riding season for added trail access. Continue to spend your money in Ogemaw and surrouding counties that have favorable ORV policies.

Will add this also: USFS will be taking bids SOON for much needed improvments to Bull Gap hill climb. We will see bona fide return route. One for Trucks, buggies and one for ATV's ..bikes..with proper signage. Hill be a "Hill" again

What we will lose is the dozen or so "side trails" around the hill. Going from 47 acres down to 25+.

Trails around the hill are being rerouted also,no details on that just yet.

Expext the hill to be "shut down" in the fall. Before rifle saeson but after Labor day.

Better signage has also been an issue, look for improved signage on the entire system this year.

Also the parking lot to the south of the Pink Store is to be paved also...look for that in the fall also.

heatseeker8, thankyou for the update.

I am never surprised that we just keep loosing more and more public areas to ride.

That is funny that the reply button on this forum causes someone's computer to crash...

Almost
as funny as how a certain board member's term were blatantly extended here http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7...3974--,00.html without public disclosure there or in the board minutes...

....or as 'funny' as how many members of this board have been aware (some for literally years) that their public contact info does not resemble <u>other</u> http://www.michigan.gov/dnr/0,1607,7...1116--,00.html honest and straight forward Michigan orv board members..."in the least!".

IMO, when somebody nicely points out the fact that you are projecting the appearance of hiding behind the DNR's skirt regarding the public's only method of gathering orv information from 'somebody' without travelling clear across the state....you don't allow the DNR to "study" that same embarassing issue...for literally years to come!!!

That is, unless you really don't want to be 'bothered' with the general public...which you can see these "snowmobilers" have had absolutely no problem publicly encouraging....<u>in</u> <u>the</u> <u>first</u> <u>place</u>.

Muddy..I guess I dont understand why "your" site has a MEMBERS ONLY section.

I dont agree with alot of the members and non members on ATV OFF ROAD also dont agree with your agenda, espicially now that alot (most) people that post are posting in the members only section.

This past week I joined up to sit in on our county meetings which meet monthly to discuss the 3 phase study allowing added trail access in the county.

Been a little disappointed with the agenda they are taking also. They are first opening up more Foot traffic only paths. with ATV and snowmobile access taking a back seat.
