Heck, our OWN DNR had made up FALSE ACCIDENT reports in township board meetings all in an attempt to persuade those in power to NOT allow ORV use on their County roadways. Good thing Dick Reeney and a few other ORV users set the story straight in the exact same meeting with these guys and proved that these DNR reports were not only false, but OUTRIGHT lies.
You paid alot of money for your ORVs and should enjoy it. Use common sense when riding and IF you do get hurt, please dont tell the hospital that you got injured on your ORV because thats another black eye against us.
Now go do the right thing and RIDE ON!

Where I start to have a probelm is when I see ATV riders starting to push thru tight narrow trails that were never designed for ATV's. We have a few trails around here that are Motorcycle only. they are tight and technical. I love them. But the quads have been pushing thru them making them wider. They get widened out by nocking down small trees and re-routing the trail where they cant fit thru. This kills the trail that used to be tight and technical.
Please tell..just which trail system is this?

There is no such thing as a cycle only trail in Michigan. Alls a cycle trail confidence marker indicates is that the trail specs for that particular trail is suppose to be groomed to 24 inches on the ground and 40 inches at handlebar height. If an ATVer can fit his ATV on this trail, he has EVERY right to be on it.
The problem here is that the cyclist can already access every mile of our 3000 miles of designated ORV trail system with their cycles.. ATVers only have access to about 60% of this 3000 miles and the ATVers vastly OUT NUMBERS the cyclist in this State. With this said, the ATVers NEED MORE area to operate on. Thats WHY the 24 inch trails are getting wider.

Wait a minute.... Your saying that when I see one of those signs before or on a trail that has a cycle on it and has the ATV crossed out (I can't remember exactly what it looks like but you know what I'm talking about) that its only a suggestion?

Cool. I guess I can start plowing through any cycle trails I see this weekend.... I'll start in Mio on Saturday.
See I just always assumed, which I know was my first mistake, that those signs were for lack of a better term legally binding and enforcable... Guess not.

Maybe MuddyForLife should provide the actual law and agency regulations that back up his assumptions, since he's the one who made this sweeping statement that covers various State and Federal land management agencies.
