Just another example of the misspending of our tax money that we send in each year. Just makes me feel warm and fuzzy all over. What ever happened to the days when a legal immigrant came to the US, lived with family already here, and worked their tails off until they could afford a home. Ah, yes, but this makes more people who are dependent on government who will vote for the liberal, socialistic types who gave them everything for free. What a crock.

I have a feeling it would be burnt to the ground if it were true. I've seen it before. It was debunked. snopes.com: Elaborate Welfare Housing Project

If I read into the Snopes article on this I see a lot of verbal abuse by both sides. They say "false" about "housing" foreigners or welfare recipients but they don't deny that these groups are using a school provided for them. They say 97 percent of the housed are citizens but they don't tell how many are on welfare (moneys provided by our taxes).

The way I see it is both sides take liberties to get their point across. I have seen with my own eyes where government subsidized housing goes. In the neighboring community of Lowell, MA there is an area known as "The Acre". Every ten years or so they come through and, at tax payers expense, renovate the housing. Why do they need to be renovated? Because the people in the housing don't take care of the buildings because they don't own them. They also know that the government will come through and fix things up in a few years. So, I pay for my home repairs and for others who don't do their own. I also help out folks when I'm physically able who need help but am getting tired of seeing the waste that goes on.

While travelling across the country in 2004 we were in Arizona staying at a hotel so we could go over to Canyon De Chelly (not sure if I got the spelling right) the next day. Across the street from the hotel was government housing. They had just built hundreds of units to replace the hundreds that were run down right next to them.

These are just 2 examples of welfare that I've personally seen. How many thousands more are there across the country? I don't have troubles with people who are physically or mentally unable to work a job. But, from what I've personally witnessed people are scamming the system. There's got to be more done to police the trillions that are being spent. I have seen the new cars driven by the "needy" when I deliver Thanksgiving baskets. I have seen the designer clothing, cigarettes being bought with food stamps, etc.

These kinds of programs are making us more and more broke everyday. We just surpassed the gross domestic product this week. In other words, our entire economy cannot pay the debt of over $14 trillion that has been created by our government. Don't you think it's time to make the cuts and sacrifices so our kids and grandkids don't have to pay a debt that is beyond imagination?

If we keep borrowing our debt rating will eventually go down. We will then have to borrow money at a higher interest rate. If they keep printing money, money eventually becomes worthless. Infation caused by a weak dollar is just as bad as a tax added onto everything you purchase. I don't know about you but I'm not really comfortable with China being able to wave the money we owe them in our face.

Just random thoughts.

Oh, I forgot to add that in that wonderful conservative bastion known as Massachusetts, the Governor wants to give in state tuition to illegal aliens. So, if an illegal alien wants to take advantage of the state college system here he can get in state tuition. I would think that they should be arrested and deported, but, no, they want to give them the benefits of citizenry without them being citizens and paying taxes... Lovely...

Honestly, things being burned to the ground is much more likely if you try to take away the freebies being given to welfare recipients. You want to see riots, make the welfare recipients take drug tests, or work for their welfare. You don't see riots with a bunch of average Mr. and Mrs. Joe Americans. They're too busy working trying to make ends meet.

We were just having a discussion like that in the office. We came up (in our infinite wisdom :P) with a couple of pointed issues. One it appears we (capitol hill and others) tend to fight to much for our red or blue team instead of working toward compromise. It seems that our government wants issues to be solved their way with no compromise unless it's dealing with this other thing over here we don't really care about.

The other being money. It's easy to give but, hard to take away in any form. Like welfare, product subsidization, or even tax cuts. My co-worker was talking about some "Laser weopon" he was reading about. It costs millions and they (army or whoever) basically said no, it's not gonna work. Yet, the funding was still passed and sent there way. Why? Probably because some politician had friends, family, lobyists involved in parts that were being sold.

I honestly don't care what side of the aisle a politician is on. I want people who aren't going to waste our money. When I was a contractor my effective tax rate between federal and state was 49%. We are not undertaxed in this country. The politicians overspend. I vote for the guy or gal who doesn't promise the government will do this, that, and the other thing for me because I know if the government does something for me it ends up costing more than if I do it for myself. Now I can't defend our borders or take care of the interstate highway system so I don't mind money spent on these items. But, the pet projects, the "entitlements", and other welfare programs have bankrupted this country. They raised the debt ceiling 2.4 trillion dollars and cut 986 billion from the budget. I don't know if my math is right but it seems to me that's 1.4 trillion dollars is further into the hole. That's their idea of compromise. They aren't serious about it and it's going to cripple this nation. If you or I tried what they are doing we'd probably end up in jail for not paying our debts.

So, I've voted for people who want to cut spending. I've voted for Democrats, Republicans, and Independents. It's whoever most closely matches my criteria and moral code.

The only way to find a politician that has all the same views as you do is to run for office.

And the majority of us are just too honest for that.

There will never be a compromise because one side sees welfare as votes and they know they cannot stay in office without the welfare vote.
