The '83 El Camino SS on my pics page. Not exactly a "muscle car," but with the engine I have in it, she'll run with the best of the 60's as it has around 400hp and only weighs 3,200 pounds.

Yes they are under rated because of insurance reasons. It would be a over 400 hp for the 429, but I do not believe that it is over 500. The 428 Police interceptor has around 410.

Favorite muscle cars-

1967 Shelby GT500- Red with White Racing stripes and the 428ci Police Interceptor---NOT the car from Gone In Sixty Seconds that everyone thinks is the 1967 Shelby! I mean that actualy BONE STOCK version of the car, without the body kit etc.

1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1- Red with a 428 Cobra Jet engine....Gotta love the shaker hood scoop!!!!!!

 

a-men..i love the shelby...ive seen a chevelle ss 454 get dusted by a gt500 it was awesome...i cant really decide between the 429 or the shelby...i think the shelby since there smaller and prob faster...when i saw them at the drag strip...it amazed me how they fitted a 428 into that thing...yea i hate the 60 sec gt500 ...bone stock is better...im ubsest(how ever u spell it) with the mustang....i cant wait till the 06-07 gt500 comes out...its going to have atleast 475 hp...i think it should have 550 so it can dust the vette n viper..but thats just me....also there was one 67 gt-500 super stallion that had 550-600 hp...that carrol shelby built himself and they took it to talledaga speedway and it was doing laps of 160 and a best lap of 189!!!!...beat that chevelle...superbird..gto...camaro..vette..and charger lovers

 

o yea! the mach-1 428!! yea baby!!! man the mustang could really hold its on out there...but no-one ever considered it a muscle car..till 67-71

 

The Super Stallion I have not heard of, if you mean the Super Snake then yes I have. It is not a stock 67 Shelby. It is a remake, like the one in gone in sixty seconds, but they have stuck a bigger engine in it that produces a TON of power. What they did was take old mustangs, and restore them with new equipment and make them into shelbys. They will be added into the Shelby owners registry or whatever its called though, since Carrol Shelby had a hand in the project. The companys name is Unique Performance .
