Hey man, I built a Pinto engine once, a 2300 bored .030, ported head, 11-1 compression, big nasty solid lifter cam, adjustable cam timing wheel, 600 Holley, 1 5/8 primary header. Sucker made some power and sounded like a funny car.
Well, it wasn't in a Pinto however it was in a sand rail..........

Anyhow, Your post reminded of a little ford courier pickup with a buit 4 cylinder in it. That little truck was keeping up with some pretty quick small blocks and even beating some.
On another note my buddy had a 69 nova with a 327 that he put slicks on and was keeping up with a 69 super bee full race car with wrinkle walls and all and that had a 440 and 2- 4's. That fastest car I ever seen down there was a 69 Camaro with a 427 and nitrous and that tied a 1000 cc Honda hurricane motorcycle 3 out of three races. That has to be approaching a 10 second car.

The muscle car built to kill all muscle cars was the 1969 ZL1 Camaro. And Im not talking about the flashy Yenko, I mean the bare bones COPO ZL1 with an aluminum big block 427, delete radio, delete AC, no identifying emblems, and plain rims with hub caps. They were the ultimate sleeper. I can't vouch for this, but I have heard that with a straight through exhaust sytem and slicks they will run low 11's.....lets see anything with a hemi do that!
