ajust the pre load. its rings on the top of the shocks that hold the spring in place. twist em up as far as they can go. it will make the ride softer and will lower u a lil bit. to ajust it u have to take a scrue driver and hammer to get the rings to turn. but jack the quad up off the ground first cuz the rings will turn easier then.

well for one thing the shocks are going to be like a rock if your 85pounds. most shocks are valved for a 160 pound person and the yfz is more than likly to be valved harder than that. the shocks are like a rock still for a 160 pound rider to. ajust the pre load and if u get some money get the shocks valved lighter.

im all for parents buying their kids quads- but a YFZ for a 12yr old is outta whack and out of touch with the atv world and safety issues. what dealer sold your parents this bike for you?

Granted the CPSC guidelines arent for every case, and you may be on your way to being a very good rider, but @ 12yrs old and only 85lbs doesnt sound like an exception to the rule.

I m glad you got a bike, dude, but i sure hope you and your parents know what you got...

yeah I had a 250 but i started kinda over riding it and so my dad let me ride his raptor for a while and a 400 i grew out of the 400s power pretty quick and so we looked at a more powerful qaud so its not like i just got it i had to earn it. My dad is realy safe guy and he watched me on his raptor for a long timebefore he bought it for me.
And besides i am going to be 13 next month.

ajust the reboun and compression to. its dun with a scrue driver. it makes a big diffrnce on those shocks. i just stuck yfz shocks on my 400ex and the ajustments make a big diffrnce. i have em full hard but they can get pritty soft if u ajust em right. but make shure u never have the dials full hard cuz that can cut off oil flow in the shock
