A friend of mine just opened up a shop in Menasha, Wis. called Action Sports. What we would like is some feedback as to what you wish you local dealer would, or does stock. As to performance parts, clothing, etc.. Thanks.

Normal consumable stuff such as plugs, fluids, lubes, filters, etc. should always be on-hand, but I would assume that someone just starting a business couldn't afford every kind of aftermarket modification for every different type of machine out there. Here's what I just recently encountered though, when buying a few mods for my Warrior, as well as clothing for myself and my kids.

First and foremost, if you're going to advertise for nationwide sales, then definitely get an online web presence. A website doesn't necessarily have to be flashy, but I did a lot of surfing recently and skipped past anyone who didn't have a page with info and photos of the stuff I was looking to buy. The site doesn't need to list and have a photo of every little nut and bolt though, or provide information on a part that I can get directly from the manufacturer, but do provide applications for parts and their prices. For instance, when looking at pant and jersey package deals for my kids, it was frustrating trying to figure out what each different manufacturer and model looked like as they differed from year-model to year-model. Buying helmets was also just as bad--I for one wouldn't buy one sight unseen--I want a photo and specifications!

Second, if providing mail order service, then give me the same service as someone who walked into the store. As an example, I recently ordered a bunch of stuff from a business that advertises in most of the ATV mags, and it took them 5 days just to get my order out to UPS for shipping! 5 days to put the order together? I don't think so, and it leads me to believe I was mislead about the parts being on-hand just to get my sale, and in reality the parts probably had to be shipped to them from a distributor before being shipped to me. Then to top things off, after waiting another 5 days for the shipment, I found that they sent me a K&N drop-in replacement filter instead of the Pro Flow filter conversion kit that I ordered. Yes they apologized for the mistake, but it's been yet another 5 days and I'm still waiting for the right filter! My opinion is that since it was their mistake, then they should have ate the $15 FedEx charges and overnighted it to me. But they didn't, so next time I'll be going somewhere else.

Anyway, enough ranting and raving, hope these thoughts help. Good luck!

Thats a good point...It's good to see that a business would ask what parts are common to be used by a consumer...
My local dealer does carry spark plugs.... Hmmm.... But if you need a master link...they are not to be found... I know it is hard to please everybody...But the shop near me is no small time business... I think they could afford to keep a few bolts at least on hand...there has been times when they don't even have pre mix oil.. And thats not a good thing. Anyway...If you just pay attention to what kinds of things people are using on a regular basis... after a while you start stocking them. good luck with the business.

Thanks for your replies, We do stock Premix and all other kinds of oil and lube, along with a select inventory of stock parts that are most commonly needed. Also a web page is in the works, yes it will include pictures and specs. I will post a link when it is finished. Anything else??
Thanks

Also,if consumers could buy more aftermarket parts,im sure it would force the quad manufactures to lower their part prices conciderbly.I'd love to see a ton of After Market parts for quads.Im sick of being robbed on replacement parts by the Manufacture.========BILL
