Cold starting advice.
#1
Does anyone have any good cold starting advice in general? I have a 00 Rancher that is a bugger to start in real cold weather for the first ride of the day. Yesterday I had it running and rode it on the trailer, pulled the trailer 10 minutes down the road and had to crank it over quite a while before it would start. I did try to push the primer button on the carb 3 times like the manual says without success. Any advice from any owners greatly appreciated T.M.

Terry,
Honestly... What I do, If its cold outside and we're going riding. I leave the bike, one quad, and the 3-wheelers running. The dirtbike is a 99 Honda XR-80, the two 3-wheelers are a 110 and a 125, and the quad is a 98 Yamaha Big Bear.
I don't have these problems out of the two liquid cooled quads, (Scrambler 500 and Magnum 500) They warm up quick.. But, those air cooled engines are almost impossible to warm up after being dragged down the road on a trailer at 55+mph.
If you're going a long distance, just pull off about 10 miles before you reach your destination and fire the trouble makers up.. When you get there, it'll be ready and waiting..
