How many still ride without a helmet?

Oh yeah, Seth.... I remember you! You're the one that likes to call everyone stupid for not wearing a helmet when your bio is full of people on quads NOT wearing helmets! Including little kids!!!! Not even a helmet on the ground next to the quads or anything.

Now I know who will be the fist to sue me when they get hurt for not wearing a helmet after a collision!!!!!!!!!!!!

Huh?
Yeah, give me your name and address so the next time I plow into a tree with no helmet the lawyer will know where to send the bill! Or are you planning a trip to GA?
Is there anyone here that is NOT full of themselves? How does my not wearing a helmet affect YOU? (Except for the fact that you cannot win this argument and you feel like less of a man not being able to control people).

All this comming from a man that tinks not wearing helmet will make him cool and raise his self esteam. And what does your ignorance have to do w/ me I could car less if you want to go out and kill yourself. Buy the sounds of you allready have!!!

Nathan, maybe you should edit that again... Sure you wanna stick with that?
I don't give a flip about being cool.... And even less about your opinion of me (why should I care what a man thinks that, from the looks of his writing and his attitude, has yet to graduate Junior High?)!
Ignorance???? What ignorance? What am I ignorant of? I posted the stats. I already said I understand the risks. I posted lots of links (that you obviously didn't read).... Tell me, what am I ignorant of?
I'm still waiting for someone with something intelligent to say instead of these apparent kids that continue to spew insults because their argument won't hold water! Anyone? Why should I be forced into wearing a helmet when I choose not to?

I don't hate you I don't even know you. I just don't agree with your riding ethics. But your a big boy you can do as you please I just hope when my kids are older we still can ride hate to get everything outlawed because of to many injuries. Whatever. Obviously you are still a waist of my typing. LOL

It says Seth is your first name when I click your avatar... So, at the very least, you're impersonating him.
How am I expected to know those pics are posed? That's #1.... #2) How does someone that is so passionate about safety and helmet use allow pics portraying the apparent lack-of-use? #3) I don't see where I mentioned anything about flags. I need to see helmets in the pics somewhere or it appears you condone riding without them at least SOME of the time. Therefore, I feel justified in feeling a bit angry that you (and your cohorts) come down on me like I'm a criminal for exercising what IS and SHOULD be my constitutional rights (and just because a law is passed does not mean it is constitutional).
Look, I'd like nothing better than to get along with all y'all.... But I'm not the one doing the condemning.... I'm the one getting attacked and having to defend my rights,,, and not only my rights, but most of the time I have to defend my intelligence, my ethics, my self esteem, and an array of other attributes about myself just because I choose not to wear a helmet. Its like you're engaging in a witch hunt and refuse to even show me any respect by having a constructive dialog with me about our differing beliefs. There may be other ways to resolve this that could make everyone happy that we haven't discovered yet. But we won't know until we respect each other and talk about it.
If I am a waste of your typing, then it shows you can't articulate your beliefs. Because, I am here willing to discuss things intelligently and with etiquette. I'm just waiting for someone to show the same respect instead of these gut-shot reactions that I'm the devil or something and only wish to take your atvs away.
Ok, I'll make the first gesture. Theory #1: If people are not required by law to wear a helmet (whatever the definition of helmet is...), then everyone's right to ride an atv will be taken away. I don't believe that.
First, how many injuries have there been on atvs in a certain period of time? Second, how many atv riders are there in that same time frame? Third, of those injuries, how many could have been prevented by wearing a helmet? Fouth, who can show the proof that the helmet actually could have prevented the injury AND not have caused a totally different injury (ie injury to the base of the neck instead of a cracked skull - which would you rather have? Either way, it counts as an injury and nobody wants either one.)
Without even having the specific answers to these questions I propose that there is no significant amount of injuries relating to the lack of helmet use. Even if there are, it should not endanger the sport of atv riding in any way. For instance, every injury I've had from flying over the bars when I plow into something would not have been prevented by helmet use (ie bruised leg and scraped elbows, etc). Every injury my friends have had would also not have been prevented by helmet use. (ie Friend flipped over backwards and was knocked unconscious for a few minutes, but the real damamge was the $20,000 to put his thumb back on his hand from trying to save the 700lb quad). Now, I'm sure you can cite examples of people who died from head injuries, but keep in mind many of those a helmet might not have saved or could have just as easily resulted in other kinds of injuries that are just as bad. But the point of all this is, our sport should not be in danger because I am not willing to wear a helmet. If it is, then everyone should be interested in protecting my rights and finding another solution rather than being the first to cast a stone at me. This is America and not some dictatorial country somewhere.... and the thing that makes America different is Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness! What makes me happy is cruising along the trails with the wind in my hair, being to see all around, being to hear all around, and not having a lot of extra weight on my head.

Not sure where you got that idea. But if its true, maybe its because nobody has came out and actually voiced one except to say I'm stupid for not wearing a helmet.... basically.
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Fact is you cannot give any logical reason not to ride with a helmet. </end quote></div>
That's not a fact. If you would ask me, I'd be glad to share some logical reasons.
1) I like the wind in my hair
2) I like to be able to see all around
3) I like to be able to hear all the sounds around me
4) I don't want a bunch of extra weight making my head bob around
5) Its too hot and I sweat in it and its nasty.
6) I'm not all too sure I'd rather have a neck injury rather than a head injury... Not at the cost of reasons 1-5 anyway.
7) There are probably more, but I'll let you chew on those for a while.
<div class="FTQUOTE"><begin quote>Your ignorace is : the state or fact of being ignorant : lack of knowledge, education, or awareness,</end quote></div>
I didn't ask the definition of ignorance, LMAO! I wanted to know what I am ignorant of. In other words, what do you know about why I should wear a helmet that I do not know?

Cool by me. I don't mind at all if you and everyone else wears a helmet. I'm easy to get along with,,, so long as you don't mind me NOT wearing one.

Preemptive thought:
Theory #2: My not wearing a helmet is setting a bad example for my children; therefore, I should be required by law to wear a helmet for the sake of my kids.
Ok, would you be ok with me not wearing a helmet if I don't have kids? How about if my kids don't have an interest in atvs and never want to ride them (ie video games are better, out chasing opposite sex, whatever...)? What about if my kids don't live with me and never see me ride? Then is it ok?
I'd have to admit, this would be a very strong argument for a helmet law, but I don't think its enough to give up a constitutional right over (based on my last reply concerning atv injury statistics and potential helmet benefits). Besides, kids should do as we say and not as we do. They can't drink alcohol, but I'm sure many parents do. They can't smoke cigarettes.... They shouldn't be cussing like adults do all the time. There are many things adults do that kids don't have the right to do. Why can't not wearing a helmet be one of the things adults can do and kids possibly cannot? Just like drinking, smoking, cussing, watching R-rated shows, etc.
