Here in the UP of Michigan, we pay about 17.00 for trail (DNR) sticker. That is for the year. The money is to go into upkeep of our trail system.

Insurance....now there is an interesting one. Our state is one of "no fault" insurance(your insurance covers your vehicle no matter who is at fault). I really hate this way of insuring. My wife and i have never had an accident or ticket and i am punished because of other drivers. Our insurance in this state is higher than anywhere else that i have lived. (previous military, lived east and west cost and almost everywhere inbetween).

We both just purchased our quads not to long ago. Now, i can get insurance under the homeowners policy for only 10.00 a year but that will only cover theft or damage while within the garage. For full coverage, they are starting to use the "value" for assessment. For the griz., they are saying 200-300 per bike! This is a full coverage insurance with a deductable of i think 250? Anyways, like i am saying, i have never had a claim and cant believe that my insurance is still around 945.00 for the house and the auto only for six months. that's 1900.00 a year for someone that is soon to be 31 and never had a claim/ticket/accident. Now they are wanting me to pay another 400-600 for my bikes????? I really love the trail systems that are up here in the UP but DANG!!! the insurance up here sucks!

I have always liked how insurance companies are complaining about payouts and how they need to increase insurance policies. Ever notice how nice thier multi-billion dollar building downtown looks??
Now, tell me where the money is going?!?!

Greetings,

I keep my quads at our hobby farm in PA and -- with no one around for weeks at a time -- I bought insurance from day-one. Allstate had a good deal on it. I was mostly interested in theft insurance but the liability is not a bad idea -- bad stuff happens and $120 a year is a bargain for peace of mind.

do you also have your cars on the same allstate policy? I had allstate for my car here in Pa and they were raking me over the coals (was 25-26 but married, 2 cars).. tried geico and they were the cheapest at that time, think they cover quads yet?
have to check I guess.

grudgingly thinking of insuring my toys..

Greetings,

I have Geico for my cars but because I live in MD and my quads live in PA they couldn't put them on the policy. Same with homeowners insurance -- couldn't cross state lines plus I wasn't a full time resident at the farm. The whole "across state lines" thing got rather messy -- lots of regulations to deal with. But Allstate was still a very competetive deal for ATV insurance.

We are supposed to have ins here as well in Nova Scotia. I do beleive if you are stopped on a known trail by the rcmp you have to provide registration and ins papers. Regardless of this i think its a good idea to have ins even if its not enforced. Here it cost me 20 for reg, and 260 per year for Collision, Comprehensive and Liability.

I hate insurance, but it is the lesser of two evils. If you never have a claim it was a waist of money, if you crash it is your best friend. In Utah I pay $144 a year on my 01 Rubicon, $500 deductable for my ATV, $100 deductable for the ATV I crash into and $50,000 per person medical coverage. I can live fixing the ATV myself, the medical if one of us was seriously hurt would affect the cash in my wallet.

$144 a year for the Rubicon, $114 a year for the 02 Rancher ES 4X4, $77 a year registration fee's each, $12,000 for two ATV's and more fun with my family than either God or Utah law allows.

I am definatly not paying too much for the fun we have.

LOVE TO RIDE1

I am glad I had it last year. Did a good number on both of our quads. Hit at about 40 MPH. $1,500 worth of damage on the quads and $400 in chiropractic bills (could have been a lot worse! Wear that damn helmet! Saved my head.). But I only needed to pay the deductable.
