hey hossblur. The motor was built by Dave Barber probably around 1986 or so. He did the port work and things on it. I just bought the bike last summer but all the reciepts were saved and so I saw all the work done to it over the years. The motor was done my Dave Barber and the drag pipe was done by STE which is now CPI. what do you ride? ill watch for you at the dunes. We also camp at the oasis on Easter usually but take daily trips to the mountain.

I posted some pics of my bike on my profile page. Dont look at the messy garage. I had the bike tore down to the frame and repainted it and polished my motor and things. So i havent cleaned the garage since my project lol

hey dabeechman
i posted some pics of my cr500 powered quad cuz you said no one had pics to back them up. They do vibrate more then the average bike but mine hasnt bothered me at all. I can ride for hours without any problems

Even thought this post is pretty much over I would like to get in on this. If the Cr500 didn't have any problems with vibration why would there be companies out there building a hybrid motor using the cr500 jug and 250r counter balanced bottom end? I ran a 86 250r atc for about three months and I sold the bike off. I had alot of trouble keeping everything tight together lock tight, and everything else would not hold the bike together. The pipe wouldn't stay on the motor mounts would want to come loose all the time I gave up on the head stay because it was more of a problem then anything. Then when it came time to kick it over if you didn't give it a full kick your not starting it, and I mean a full kick where you boot ends up in the dirt almost. I sold the bike to a friend of mine and he ended up wrecking it when the swing arm nut fell off and backed its way off without him seeing it making the bike turn and flip. It was always a problem the motor always ran good which made me want to keep it, but there were always problems with pipes bolts nuts everything you can think of would want to fall off of it. Yes, the cr500 is a killer bike and is really fast, but when you put it on 3 or 4 wheels you will have problems like this for sure! Even when I used to ride the motorcycle I had problems with the pipe coming lose and other bolts not wanting to stay in their holes. I never have met the Beech but I have talked to him a lot of times, and I have been going to him for info for a while now. He knows what he is talking about just look at his bikes you will be impressed if you know what your looking at. I don't know to many people out there running any motor by PSI. Not saying there isn't, but he does and his bikes look killer. Anyone that wants to say anything bad about him im sure he would be willing to take the talking to the hill. As far as his nut sizes goes I don't need to know!!!

bansheeesmoker you really don't have a 500R either you have a cr500 motor. A 500r is a hybrid motor using the 250r bottom end with the cr top end. I can go with the trx500, but the trx500r it is not really all the true.

I agree the 500 motor does vibrate. I was just saying that its not so bad at least on my quad that you cant ride it. I think it was beechman saying that you could only make one pass then your hands would be numb. I can ride mine for hours at a time without my hands going numb. As far as nuts and bolts yes you do want to locktite everything. and make sure you use good grade bolts. Its not perfect it does vibrate and U will lose bolts and things. But It is a very fast motor and its going to take a very fast banshee to run with the 500 motor but its going to be a little more maintenance to make sure everything stays together
