I know a lot about resonance, im a proud engineer. A frame is built around a motor, true. BUT the frame is being built for a specific application, perfect example is a non-counterbalanced motor in a quad frame. You put it in a frame that it isnt meant to go in and of course its going to cause illadvised effects. Ever wonder why honda never put a cr500 in a quad?

If you want to get real technical (this is the one your going to love), laeger built my buddy a aftermarket chassis for his 580CR on methanol. The frame was a monotube design (exactly like a motorcycle) and the entire bike was mounted in polyurethane. To no suprise the guy couldnt take the vibration (big kid 220lbs) and the bike was sold. 15k down the drain. The quad was setup just like a motorcycle, but being that it sits on 4 wheels, you'll never cure the vibration problem.

Why is it so hard to believe the 85hp especially when a stock 1987 CR500 had 61hp?

thanks for the replies. The bike does not vibrate as bad as everyone is claiming. It does vibrate at an idol and if your sitting and revving it. Once you are riding it you do not notice any vibration. I can ride all day long without going numb as some have said. Ill try to get some pics up of the bike on my profile as soon as i can take some with a digital cam and load them in. Hope to see some of you in utah at Sand mountain this summer. I will be there for easter for sure
talk to you later

Justaguy, man I am gonna look for you this summer or at easter. I haven't seen one or ridden one but from an engineering standpoint a quad frame built for a 250 2 stroke, would have a hard time handling a 500 motor. These chasis are built for the motor that are to be put into them. BUt, I want to see your ride before I shoot off my mouth much more. But forget K&T for you work, go talk to Dave Barber at DAB racing, he did all K&T's work before they opened there own place. Plus I believe he rides a CR500 so you know he knows the finer points of the motor

Bigger, Your right, its KGB now.
The bike I am talking about has a purple frame, crappy old plastic, and stock swinger. Its held back tremendously by the chassis. We ususally are over at Oasis. But we will be there (at the mountain). Come by anytime. He will let you ride it.

beech your your a pretty cool dude sorry for giving you a hard time. You know what your talking about, sometimes I just get over my head and i want to be the know it all. FOR ALL YOU 500r QUAD BUILDERS, here are all the problems I had on my first trip, and beech dont laugh and say I told you so. TO start out ITs hard to start cold, hot, well any gowd dam time. I had to tighten 3 seperate motor mounts 3 times because I forgot my dam locktight. luckly I used teflon nuts so the bolts dident fall out. A axle nut came loose, but the kodder pin saved my life!.one of my custom head light mounts snaped off, the weld diddnt break the frame did. the hose clamps holding my rear resevor snaped in half, the fronts moved a little. when we went on a girls ride my bike over heated and blew off a radeator hose, cause i never took it out of first. my flag broke racing at olds through the whoops??.but the bike ran fast and all weekend. the vibs dont bug me but i let my girlfriend ride it and she said she couldent tell if her hands were on the bars or not, she only made one pass,
