Default 4-stroke's suck!!

Speaking of getting a grip, why dont you suck on that bottle of prozac and let me explain my post.

Everybody always talking about how a 2-stroke needs a rebuilt after every 20 hours, or every year is BULLSH*T. A 2-stroke will last you a very long time if it is maintained. There arent 2-stroke bikes are cars out there because it is near impossible to deliver different oil ratios at a fuel pump. Also, the government seems to think a car is more enviromentally friendly, when in fact it takes 50 2-stroke motorcycles to equal the emissions of 1 car. Go figure hmm?

I dont speak on behalf of my "bretheren" since most of them dont know what they are doing either...perhaps they should ride a 4-stroke

"Most Prefer 4 strokes. The sales PROVE IT." That wouldnt have anything to do with factories only sponsoring 4-stroke riders, or the fact that they let the 450cc 4-strokes race against the 250cc motors? Hmm...imagine if 2-strokes got this sort of support mike. I know from skimming the yamaha forum that all the guys modifying their 4-strokes kind of like how we do our 2-strokes dont get more then 15-20 hours out of their motor either. So...safe say that in any race industry a motor isnt going to last. Time to move on

let me get this strait. a 2STROKE is more reliable than a 4STROKE EH? r u on crack. you can go years and years without touching the moto on a 4 stroke, but you have to re-build a stroke every year. you know absolutly nothing
I shall state this again for you guys who missed it. My 74 GT750 Triple Suzuki has NEVER had any of the motor disassembled from when new and runs great. Tell me again how you can go 25K on a 2-cycle and not have piston rattle and poor compression. It fires right up (with electric start) and has never left me walking. Take that to the bank baby! 2-strokes are FAR MORE easier to work on and ALOT EASIER to diagnose problems.

Mmmm, Prozac......

It's called "Mechanical Oil Injection". It's been implemented for MANY years without failure. So that's not the reason.

You have your facts a little/a lot off there. Autos and such use emissions equipment that almost completely eliminates Carbon Monoxide and unburnt Hydrocarbons. It's called a catalytic converter, Smog Pump and Exhaust Gas Recirculation valve. None of which a 2 stroke has. So that's not right either.

Factories do what they want and promote whatever they want. We have no say so in that matter.

edit: had to correct dioxide to monoxide......

You've missed the emissions point yourself. The average car gets driven 15,000 miles a year. My '98 quad has 800 miles on it. Who's polluting more? That is where the comparison is. Virtually nobody uses ANY recreational vehicle even close to what EVERYBODY drives their cars. That's why cars pollute more. It's the total that counts. (Not to mentioning belching diesel trucks that run 250,000+ miles per year). A 2-stroke car with 70s technology would be a bad thing. But new technology has eliminated the emissions issue. For recreational vehicles like snowmobiles, watercraft, quads, dirt bikes, etc the 2-stroke is still a viable engine choice. You guys on 4-stroke quads are riding them because that's what's been manufactured the last several years. Has nothing to do with them being "better". If the OEM's had been concentrating on new-tech, high performance 2-strokes like they do with sleds, then most of you guys would still be riding 2-stroke quads. Notice that nearly all ultralight aircraft use a Rotax 2-stroke. Seems that would be one place were reliability is kinda important.

ur right. IF the manufactures were puting more technoloy into the 2 stroke to make them more reliable, and more eficient than yes, i would ride a 2 stroke. but i will not ride something with 70's technology

the guys obviously dont know what there doing if you cont build a 4 stroke that can last only 15-20 hours

It's not impressive at all. That's a 650. A 600 powervalve twin 2-stroke sled motor comes stock with close to 120hp (I forget the actual numbers, since I rode an 800 triple I never payed that much attention to the "little" sled motors). And if you've got a Rotax with semi-direct injection, you have clean emissions, lower fuel consumption and better throttle response. Give it up, 4-stroke dreamers. You can't even play in the same ballpark (I'm refering only to motors, not to one specific type of recreational vehicle so don't get all bothered about who's quad is fastest around an MX track)

Oh, while I'm at it I'll throw this in. This belongs to kyxplorer on the Polaris side. Remember the 400 Poo is only 378cc.
95 Xplorer 400 ,70+hp,AAEN trail pipe,.080 Wiseco,UNI,Budda ported/polished,Fox shocks,ITP/American Racers, Heelclicker clutch,38mm tmx flatside,no injector,lightened flywheel,20 off head,trail flat track race-.#24
I hope he doesn't mind me using him as a fine example of 2-strokes rockin'!
