Clutches, Clutches, Clutches????
#1
I was wondering what everyone out there in the rest of the world(anywhere but I-Da-Ho) thought of Clutches? I am replacing my Clutch and my basket. For a Basket I was gonna go with a Hinson and as far as a Clutch i wasn't sure. Some say go for a stock Suzuki, but last I checked after market was meant to be better than stock, so any input anyone can assist me with would be greatly appriciated.

I haven't heard many folks using a Veserah clutch, Barnett's are ok. I have a EBC Dirt Racer clutch kit in mine. Works pretty well in my banshee. A little costly but i've had it in there for over 2 years. In case your wondering yes I ride it pretty hard, got to to stay ahead.

I bet the CR500 springs made a huge difference in clutch pull?
Why did you choose different springs? I've heard that you use springs from the next biggest displacement machine when you modify your engine. For example, use CR250 springs in a modified CR125.

I also use stock fiber and metal plates with CR500 springs in my Honda 250R.
The real reason I use CR500's...That's what Gary Denton used to use, I figured it must be a decent setup because his machine was probably pushing a lot more HP than mine.
I have had great luck with this setup. I went to aftermarket clutch springs and it burned up my clutch almost instantly. I dont think all aftermarket parts are better than stock, this being one of those exceptions.

I had CR500 springs on a Factory Honda 250R I bought from a racer in 1988. I never replaced the clutch ever.
I've done one even better. I went to Home Depot and bought 5, 3 cent washers and put them under the springs on both or my 250R's. My 85 still has original plates (from 85...stock plates)and my 86 has Veshra plates. Both work great. I ride it in the sand, dirt, ice, etc. If it doesn't slip in the sand, then it'll hold in any other contition.
The "weight" of the clutch, meaning how hard it is to pull in, is not bad. I've never noticed much of a difference.
