Air filter box removal question
#1
I was talking to my dad today about removing the air box on my 300EX. But then, he pointed out these two tubes going to the front of the quad from the box. He said that those are used to get fresh, clean air from the front of the quad. He also said that by getting rid of the box, the air filter would get really dirty, really fast.
So...
Is it really worth it to get rid of the air box, or to get a better breathing lid/removing the lid? Has anyone noticed any increase in performance by doing that?
Thanks!

The biggest concern you should have is water, do you ride in any water? even splashing through puddles. Water does not compress, therefore it will cause a huge problem when a good amount is sucked into your engine. I would say no leave the air box if any water is in your riding. A better and safe idea would be to keep the box and use an outerwear cover for your air box, they do sell them for selected quads and they do repel water, but not if your riding through rivers. If you do remove the lid or whole box I hope you are ready to re-jet, because it will want to suck in more air.
