01 Sportsman speedometer
#1
I was wondering if it's possible to replace the speedometer on my 2001 Sportsman with one from a later model bike? My speedometer has not worked in years. I like the shape of the head light and pod on the later models.

If your speedo does not work but you still have awd working then its your wheel sensor (Hall Efect) that's the problem.
The speedo are the same from 1998-2002 after that some wiring harness connections would have to be changed, plus the newer ones may have options your ATV is not set up for like gas gage and Tachometer.
My speedo has not worked for 3 years due to a bad $60 wheel sensor but the speedo just does not have important info I need. Only my hour meter and speedo lights work.

Yep mine does the same thing and I want to say that I changed that sensor years ago when it was new and it still didn't work. I'm pretty sure those speedometers on the old bikes are notorious for going bad. I was just wanting to change the whole head light pod out. I figured I could splice in a new harness and get some of the stuff on a newer speedometer to work. Is the all wheel drive affected by the speedometer?
