I do understand. You notice the higher prices. That is because of the R&D that goes into it. From past experiences with non-race companies products such as a-arms, swingarms, and other items of that nature, they do not seem to hold up to the regular abuse of MX. (With the exception of some race companies) The time and money it takes for Roll Design to test these on the track over time ,as long as other terrain, is quite a bit. I dont know, I guess I just see it all from a business standpoint where most people would compain about the price. I, for one, do not mind paying extra for something I know is quality and race proven. I just dont like to take any chances. I see your view, as I hope you see mine. My opinion is the same as alot of the racers I know. Maybe we are very few who feel this way. I dunno. This, though, has been a good debate over the subject, I am glad it didn't offend anyone.

for big stuff like frames, a arms, stuff like that, race proven is definitely the way to go. But for parts like pistons, bearings, tires, rims, seat covers, plastic, etc etc etc, it is beneficial for most people to shop around and find a better deal.

Dill, I agree with you on some points.. But, I am with mdegain on this one. the "give to those who give to us" thing is the way I feel. Sure, I buy more stuff from RMATV, than Nacs(nacs is higher on everything.. by the way).. but, if I can buy from a race company, i will. Proven Fact : Race proven products are most likely higher quality. End of story

By the way, I ordered some bolts and nuts for my shee from Ronnies.. I hope he dosen't screw me over like he did some of ya'll!

<< Race proven products are most likely higher quality. >>

In most cases, this is definitely true - but for some items the race product is designed for a "use it and throw it away" attitude, where the local guy wants his stuff to last more than one or two races (or rides).

Case in point - Wiseco pistons. Good racing piston, but not so great for longevity (compared to other options out there).

Another case - "racing" clutch plates - these are typically thinner, and sometimes offer more plates per pack. This is great for gription in bad situations, but can cause clutch basket wear (thinner plates cut into the basket sooner)if used in a trail bike that only sees a new clutch every few years.

It all depends on the company making the product. I think there are some awesome companies out there who do not support race teams, but make really good aftermarket race products - then there are those companies who support teams, but make some pretty crummy product or have really bad service.

Some race teams don't even offer good service to their own racers - why do you think Travis Spader jumped ship in the middle of the season?

Just look at the list of 'bad' companies on this thread. There's a few who have sponsored teams or races over the years. I think it still boils down to the fact that we normally do business with a quality company (with good prices!) - if they also race or support riding/racing, even better!

I think that all you have very valid points. I agree. I will buy from a racing oriented company, becuase i race motocross and i think that they will know what will best suit my needs. But on something like tires, i will buy from RMATV, becuase of their inventory, priciing and service. Different parts, i will buy from differeent companies.

Food for thought....I bought one of the first dmc double barrel full systems for the 400ex in 99....it last for a little while, then my caliper knocked it clean off, so i talk to design guy at dmc for an hour, so we come up with a solution, instead of the strap to hold the silencer on the frame, they will make it with an offset bracket....okay, sounds good, i send it back, they send me a brand new system....its been a little over a year, and every weld has cracked, every stud that holds the silencer to the flange is broken, the flange has broke.....so i call dmc, i expect some help......wrong, the guy was totally rude, so my conclusion is this, their craftsmanship is a total joke...and they well dump their junk on you, so buyer beware.....this pipe will not hold up....if anyone knows those people there, please inform them about this posting....i want them to see what happens when they treat a customer badly.....the pen does have power....

MXBubs, Basically, what I see happened is that you dealt with a company that worked very well with you when you had a legitimate gripe (pipe mount clearance problem), but did not hand you another free pipe after a years worth of use.

BTW, DMC is not my favorite company - but I don't see where they're at fault here. An exhaust which has been used for a year wouldn't have any type of warranty from any company.

MXBubs, we can't refer to your previous postings because they were all deleted for rude behavior.
