03 Sportsman 700 starting issues
Hello I have a 2003 Sportsman 700 that will not start unless I jump the battery. I have checked the battery and have charged it overnight. But for some reason it will not start. I hear a click sound coming from the SWITCH-MAGNETIC. Could this be causing my starting issue. Once it do get it started (by jumping it) it runs fine. The battery icon keep flashing and as soon as I turn it off I can not start in unless I jump it. Any help would be grateful. Thanks

Welcome to the forum! Could be just a bad cell in the battery, loose battery connections, loose wires at the regulator/rectifier, OR the regulator/rectifier(#4010796 this is the old number, the replacement has been updated) may be bad. You might have the battery load tested plus when running make sure it's charging at least 14 volts back to the battery or it's usually a charging problem. BEST not to jump off the battery until you have this problem fixed. PLUS if you research all the posts on problems on the early 600 and 700 carb models you will find quite a few where the Ducati ignition system has failed or beginning to fail. The replacement Kokusan ignition kit #2202603 contains a new stator, flywheel, separate cdi, coil, regulator rectifier, and jumper wires needed plus instructions. Hopefully it's just the battery or reg/rectifier! If the problem is narrowed down to the regulator/rectifier check this place out.
