Default 2006 sportsman 500 stalling issues

when it is cold no issues fires right up and runs great until you shut it off. when you start it back up while its still warm, it starts fine and idles good until you take off, after you go a few feet it stalls. it will restart just fine but will stall again, this will happen for 5 or 6 cycles and then run fine until you turn it off then starts all over again. the check engine light comes on while its misbehaven. have noticed if you let it idle for 2 minutes or put it in neutral and rap the throttle hard a couple times its good to go. can't get it to throw a code.have changed the filter and plug. any ideas!

Sounds like the map sensor harness or connector problem. This was a common thing to happen on efi machines. The wiring is thin, can show a bare wire that may be shorting out that you can repair, but a lot of times the wiring can break internally or have an intermittent problem. Some would do as you machine does, others would backfire, erratic idle, but run good off idle. This is the most common thing to happen other than fuel pump problems. If you have a fuel pump pressure tester you can eliminate the pump as a problem also. It must hold 39 psi with the key on engine not running. If you hear the pump priming up then might be in the map sensor harness wiring. Look at the "sticky" post above this section on efi problems plus here's the link to the heavy duty repair kits. Only The Best
If you narrow it down to a fuel pump problem Airtex has replacement pumps. This is an example. http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par...questid=376721

MAP circuit low and high input code 45 and 46. These are the codes I got (when they did show up) for problems in the map sensor. NOT the sensor itself, but the harness or connector.I'd order the kit and I think your problem will be solved. Only The Best

I didn't fix it you did This is still a problem area on all the 500/700/800 efi machines and a lot of people over look it because they don't see any broken wires and assume this connection is good.
