Default Replacing front rotor on 95 Xplorer 400

The manual I have is of no help in showing how to replace the front rotors.
I removed the cap and the lock ring in front of the axle nut. When I turn the nut, the drive shaft turns (as I suspect it should). Before going any further, does anyone have a tip for removing the hub? I thought about removing it with my impact wrench but better judgement tells me to ask for advise.
Thanks for any suggestions!

Keep the caliper on it and hold the brake as tight as you can. Put a pipe on your ratchet helps too! It should not hurt to use an impact on it, but I would really start by holding the brake as tight as possible. At one point when I was doing one, the socket split before the axle nut broke loose!

Default Got one side off, calling it a night

You'll love this - the brakes don't work at all, so the caliper trick won't work. I looked at it some more, then stuck a large screwdriver in the U joint housing to keep the drive shaft from turning. Then, got out my 1/2" mother breaker bar, ( while praying that I don't screw up the drive shaft or U joints)started applying pressure real slow. The nut came off just as easy as you please. My guess is it was factory installed in 1995 and never touched since.
The caliper was roached which was why I was in there to begin with. Will tackle the right side tomorrow.
Thanks much for the words of wisdom. Much appreciated...

If you don't have a compressor and air impact this is the best way to go.They usually have enough strength for most jobs. I used an old Makita corded impact for awhile and still have it in the old tool box. Electric Impact Wrench - 1/2"

Default Electric impact

Right after buying the ol' 95 polaris, I ended up buying a Milwaukee electric just to get the lug nuts off. Whoever put the tires on last must have been a previous jack-hammer operator. Hopefully the right hub nut will come off as easy. Too dang cold to work out there any longer tonight. May 5th and 44 degrees..........
Thanks for your help and advice!

On this old flex nut on the hub, torque only to 20 pounds max on reassembly. This old system had a "rolling torque" measurement for the final torque, but I usually ended up at 20 pounds on most of them.
