Ordered starter today but not the bendix gear. How can I tell if I need one by checking it out. Thx

If it retracts out and in ok then you can reuse it. Just apply a thin film of grease at each end push down the front cap and grease it.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse Just simpler to replace both the starter and bendix at the same time as both take a beating over time.

Yea took bendex gear out its bad pieces if spring were popin out will replace it too.

Another question the bike is 2005 old and has original prop shaft and yokes and u joints. Also where it connects to front and rear there is another yoke I'm guessing that ties it to front and rear( can't find a part number picture for these). Should these be replaced how do I tell. Also is there one whole piece you can buy with prop shaft ,yokes,u joints associated with prop shaft. Then buy separate pieces.....hope this all made sense lol

This is the prop shaft that connects the transmission to the front differential.Dirt Cheap Yamaha, Polaris, Suzuki & Kawasaki OEM Parts & Accessories – Cycle Parts Warehouse You can either buy the whole thing for $140 or replace the two u-joints. Oem u-joints are 34 bucks each at Cycle Parts Warehouse or just buy two #338 u-joints from Napa or online for 14 bucks each.http://www.ebay.com/itm/Precision-Joints-338-Universal-Joint/131618804141?_trksid=p2141725.c100338.m3726&_trkparms=aid%3D222007%26algo%3DSIC.MBE%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20150313114020%26meid%3Dad358ed98cea4c1ca082f6bd09d199d1%26pid%3D100338%26rk%3D12%26rkt%3D28%26sd%3D380834420175

Hey guys I was wondering what parts to order with regards to the prop shaft and transmission shaft piece and differential spline shaft piece. Here are some pics of the prop shaft yolks and the splines they go over. Could you tell me if they look wore out. I know I need u joints. Guess I got to figure out how to put pics up now lol...

Don't see any pics.. If the yoke spines are in question along with the u-joints,then cheaper to replace the prop shaft as a unit rather than trying to rebuild one..

First pic the splines look dry and worn from no greasing looks like. If it's the rear yoke by the gear case, this is the one most people over look on greasing as the zerk is hard to see and get to without a flex grease hose.In fact both look pretty dry. I'd think seriously about replacing the prop shaft assembly and be done with it if the u-joints are worn also.. Gear case shaft splines and diff shaft splines are harder than the prop shaft yokes.Think they're made that way on purpose.

Ok thx there dry because I cleaned them all up to show the splines. Do they look like they have enough splines is the question knowing I cleaned them off.
