Just joined up today, great forum.
I have been wondering for some time but can not find any answear. I would like to know what the top speed in open country, flat roads for the sportsman series (ie...400, 500, 600 and 700) also the top speeds for the sport quads like the raptor. would like to get one of these i am thinking the sportsman 600 would be the choice but I dont want to be going 40 mph down the fire lanes in Michigan. My father has a sportman 350 I think and it tops out a 35mph. I am not the type to be jumping all over the place but want an atv taht will give a nice ride all year round. deer hunting, ice fishing and general trail riding. so could you all help me?
thanks much.

Any of the sportsmans would be a good choice. They have great suspension, and. good power and handling. The Sp400 will top out around 55mph while the SP500HO will go 60mph. The SP600 and 700 will top out in the mid 60's. A raptor will top out at 71-72 mph. A predator will top out at 73-74 mph. A Z400 will top out at 68 mph, while a 400EX will reach a top speed of 65mph. A DS650 has about the same top speed as the raptor. Their are many other sport quads but I think you get the picture how fast they are. If I were you, test ride as many 4-wheelers as you can and pick the best one for you.
