I need a utility bike for light work, also want something very comfortable, and off road capable..... something comfortable, and off road capable.... I can get a good deal on a Polaris sportsman 400.... ""1996, 400 SPORTSMAN, 4X4, w/winch, radio, gunboot, etc., $2300"" Looks good too, I can pick it up today if I want, How are they at all in the trails ?? Are the sportsmans shaft driven ? I know they run on a belt, but are they really that bad, I need to do some work with it, and a play toy, weekends only.... Right now until I get out of college I can't afford a new Rubicon or a foreman yet, but this is an awesome deal that I can go pay cash for... Anyone have any thoughts ?? Thanks

 

definalty a good deal you went with a good brand polaris is the most reliable and the are fast for automatic the formans have problem and this polaris even comes with a winch its a good deal go buy the thing before it sells

 

2 stroke 400 Sportsmans are great trail machines but do require alot of maintanence mainly do to the 3 chain 4x4 system and the hiden counter balance oil stick.I have on and love it.Very fast and quick.

 

I havent seen it in person yet, this thing is 2 stroke ?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! and it's chain driven ?!?!?!?!?!?!? I checked the polaris website, but could only find info on the newer models, but they were water cooled 4 stroke, shaft driven ?!?! Screw this, I can't wait to get out of 2 stroke, not back into it....
