2000 Xplorer 400 specs/info sites
I'm buying a used 2000 Xplorer and need some advice on anything I should watch for. Also any good or not so good points.
Does anyone know of a Web site where I can get the specs on this machine. Most of the Polaris sites just show the past couple of years. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys.

I have had 5 new machines in 5 years, and my stock 2001 Explorer is the only one I have kept and have no intention of replacing. I love that machine. Have close to a hundred hours of mixed riding, with a loose swing arm bolt being the only problem ( bugger to get to ). I'll soon put a uni-filter and white primary spring in it. Good Luck Muddin In Mich.

I've had an 99 explorer for about 3 years. Love it. Its fast. A few things to watch for. Make sure you have clean oil in your counterbalancer. Change it per the maintenance schedule. If the oil gets milky, it's time to replace the seals between the oil in the counterbalancer and the anti freeze side. It's a job to do. Get yourself a good maintenance manual. The starter is mounted in a bad spot. Its tough to get to. I've been thru 2 starters. It's subject to water penetration. If you replace it, seal the starter with silicone. Water always seems to find its way into the starter. This forum has been great in rebuilding the Xplorer. Hope this helps......
