Default 02 Trailblazer choke?

Just wondering if anyone knows why the trailblazer choke is spring loaded. I noticed my daughter's would snap back unless you hold it open, so I followed the cable to the carb and found a spring. None of my other quads have a spring on the choke, so what's the reasoning here?

Every choke cable on the Polaris Mikuni carbs I have seen have a spring. They have to be spring loaded in some manner, the spring is normally inside the carb housing, but doesn't have to be that way. If it is snapping back, then the choke is out of adjustment. Do a search on here for adjusting the choke, I have posted the easiest ways to do it several times, so I know you will be able to find it, if not let me know and I will.

NCScrambler,

I did several searches in the Polaris forum, but can't find any specifics on how to adjust the choke. Can you explain it. Thanks!

OK, here I found it. Good luck.

Here is the easiest and most accurate way I have found to adjust the choke. The best way to do it is to remove the carb enough where you can look in the front of it. Find the hole that coincides with the choke plunger. (usually to the left side of the bell) It is easiest to find with a flashlight and flipping the choke on and off. Now when you have the choke off, the plunger should be fully seated in the hole, half choke the plunger should take up exactly half of the hole and full choke the plunger should be completely clear of the hole. To make adjustments, you should have a jam nut that is on the choke cable at the carb. Loosen the jam nut, turn the cable in or out to get your adjustment, then tighten down the jam nut and you are done.
