Who has the best price and what brand for a throttle conversion for my Polaris Sportsman?

Yes, I am wanting to do away with the thumb throttle and give it a twist.

 

Motion Pro makes and sells twist conversion kits. I'm sure any Parts Unlimited authorized dealer would be able to find it in their catalogue. One caution with a twist throttle, when herking and jerking over logs and other trail obstacles, it's very easy to roll on the throttle when you don't intend to. It does boil down to preference. I've tried one, and now I'm back to the thumb unit. I think Dennis Kirk, or Rocky Mountain ATV may also stock them.

 

There are definately dis-advantages to a twist throttle on an atv. The reason it works so good on bikes is because of the large front tire, you rarely ever have to turn the wheel far at all. With an ATV you have to turn lock to lock alot of times in slow stuff, so it puts your arm and wrist in a funny position. The manufacturers put a thumb throttle becuase it is safer. Some people use them with good results, but just be aware that they can be very dangerous at times. Good luck!!

 

I had the Motion Pro on mine for awhile and then went to the HPD
thumb throttle. Like Modquad and NCscrambler have stated takes
some getting use to and can be a little unpredictable sometimes!

 

I had the twist throttle, went back to thumb because it was very awkward in the tight stuff.

 

Well I think I am going to stay with the thumb throttle. Not for safety reasons but for the reason one of you pointed out about the range of the twist throttle. If you guys are converting, and then going back,,,,, its enough for me to see that the thumb might not be too bad....
