Default Sportsman 600 Rear Suspension Failure

The welds on my rear suspension of my new Sportsman 600 never penetrated. This was true on both sides, causing my rear suspension arm to break off. The weld was on the top but NOT all the way around either.

When Polaris was contacted, they said they knew that bikes went out that way but that the engineers told them it was OK.

I now have a bike with 500 miles on it with a broken rear suspension. I urge you to check out the welds on your bikes.

Which arm, upper or lower? Which joint, inner or outer?

I would assume this problem would spill over into the SP700 lineup as well since they use the same parts.

Both joints of the inner -- they were both welded only on the top and bottom and not all the way around. No heat with the weld, therefore, no penetration!

It was ugly,

Did Polaris make good on it? Were you riding when they broke? That must have been rough, if so!

What was the date of manufacture ? (located by the serial#) that would help narrow it down for the rest of us.
